That’s the Book For Me

Many believe that the Bible is a fictitious book of fables, myths, superstitions, and contains nothing more than “make believe” wishes for the woefully ignorant that need to believe that there is a force and “person” greater than man that created all that is and can provide for all of nature, sustain us, help us in our struggles, and ultimately deliver us from this sinful place.  I am one of those that the intellectually elitists have categorized as pitiful, naïve, ignorant, and blind. Hallelujah!  Glad to know that I am in that great group that are “aliens here” and on my way to my ultimate home with my Heavenly Father.

The Bible has often been ridiculed, but never removed from the earth. If, indeed, it was “only”a book that was as ridiculous as it has been touted to be, it would have long ago been placed on the dusty heap of fascinating books that held fascination over a few for a very short time.  Its enduring power to impact, transform, guide, and illuminate the minds, hearts, and souls of man is one of the indicators that this Book is different from all others.

The people that have lived by its precepts and principles have flourished.  Nations that built upon its truths have excelled.  Business leaders, scientists, political servants of the people, artists, musicians, craftsmen, parents, and all that chose to honor its teachings have been some of the most respected and have made some of the world’s greatest contributions in their respective fields.

The late Dr. R. G. Lee, former pastor of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis TN expressed the value of God’s Word in this way:

“The Bible is a book beyond all books as a river is above and beyond a rivulet. The Bible is a book beyond all books as the sun is above and beyond a candle in brightness. The Bible is a book beyond all books as the wings of an eagle is above and beyond the wings of a sparrow. It is supernatural in origin, eternal in duration, inexpressible in value, immeasurable in influence, infinite in scope, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, regenerative in power, infallible in authority, universal in interest, personal in application, and inspired in totality. This is the Book that has walked more paths, travelled more highways, knocked at more doors and spoken to more people in their mother tongue than in other book this world has ever known or will know.”  (Copied).

The Bible is the Word of God given to us by God Himself.  It was written over a period of 1400 years with over 40 different writers all inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.  What other book took that long to develop, from that many different people as writers, and still have one constant and consistent theme that “fits together” as its content?  NONE!  If men knew that they could have a Book that God wrote for them to read, would all mankind not clamber to get a copy and read it?

When we were children, we were taught a song that still comes to my mind on occasion.  This is one of those times….

The B-I-B-L-E.  That’s the book for me.

I stand alone on the Word of God.

The B-I-B-L-E!

‘Nuf sed!!!!  (or for those that do not know what is Proper Southern English…“Enough Said!).
