It Is Great Being a Man!
The Pharisees of Biblical times used to pray with thanksgiving that God did not make them “a woman”. Men have a good life and we know it. We are much less concerned about customs, etiquette, attire, hygiene, verbal skills, organization, emotions, or expressing “inner feelings”. In fact, just writing that last one made me have momentary feelings of nausea.
Men like to be in groups like herds of beasts. We don’t have to always be the lead dog in the pack, but we do love to be “in” and with the pack a lot. Although we are working hard to be better at learning to be husbands that are understanding (be patient with us ladies!), fathers that are attentive to help with the children (even practicing diaper changing – yuck!), and more attentive at picking up our dirty clothes (which we do, but we just don’t know where to put them down once we picked them up!)….according to the surveys of women, we have a ways to go.
Real men love to accept and overcome challenges of every sort. Those may include things like hunting, fishing, remodeling, lawn work, carpentry, sports, flying, physical fitness, hiking, camping, climbing, or a host of other things that force us to compete with ourselves or better yet, to do something better than a competitor. Women think us strange when we deck out in camo for a good day in the woods. But then, we have watched you get “painted up” for a full day to hunt in the mall. That practice seems really strange to a male of the species!
Recently, I found this great explanation of why males are happy with our lot…..
Great Reasons To Be A Guy….
· Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
· You can kill your own food.
· Three pairs of shoes are way more than enough.
· You can quietly watch a game with your buddy for hours without ever thinking, “He must be mad at me.”
Wedding dress: $2,000. Tuxedo rental: $75.
· If another guy shows up at the party in the same outfit, you just might become life-long friends.
· You are not expected to know the names of more than five colors.
· The same hairstyle lasts for decades.
· One wallet, one pair of shoes, one color, all seasons.
God made men to be Godly and strong; to lead families; to protect those under our care. Consider what the Bible says about being a “real man”…..
Psalm 1:1-6 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 119:9-16 – How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes! 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 – Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.
