Real beauty is rare. Many of those people that are the “beautiful” in the eyes of this culture are seen on movies, magazines, and media. Beautiful cars and clothes are the foundation of advertising. Beautiful places are photographed and published with a couple smiling big and obviously having a great time. The inference is clear…. You could be here. Beauty products are a multi-billion-dollar industry because every person wants to have better looking skin, hair, teeth, and appearance.
Beauty is not cheap nor is it easy. Models that make big money starve themselves to be camera worthy. Athletes that aspire to be award winning work out hours daily to move their muscle tone to perfection. Women go to various shops to get hair coiffed, and nails, feet, and body shaped, polished, and perfected.
The greatest beauty, however, is not physical. The longest lasting and most valuable beauty is spiritual. To be beautiful spiritually likewise is costly. Spiritual excellence demands forsaking things that pull us away from our LORD. It is exercising daily the discipline to submit to His will. Becoming beautiful in spirit means a healthy and steady diet in feeding on the Word of God. To be all one can be, there must be regular conversations with our Heavenly Father who is our trainer for life. Like any good training program to become one’s best self, the habits and hurts that have created poor behavior in the past have to be confronted, confessed, forgiven, and forsaken.
Gold is one of the most valuable materials on earth. It has been used for centuries as money, but it also has many uses in industry, manufacturing, and even space flight. One of the traits that makes gold so useful is that it can be shaped and formed so easily. In fact, a single ounce of gold can be flattened out to cover three hundred square feet.
But gold ore dug out of the ground contains many other elements that must be removed prior to the gold being useful. The refining process for gold involves intense heat. Gold melts at a temperature of almost two thousand degrees Fahrenheit. That incredibly high temperature is required for gold to be ready to be used. The Christian life involves much the same process. Sometimes we are surprised when “bad things happen to good people.” But the Scripture tells us that fiery trials are part of God’s refining process for our lives. Rather than griping or complaining when trials come, we should rejoice as we think of the result they will produce. (Copied).
Malachi 3:2-4 – “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. “He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness. “Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years.
