The Time Has Come
Today, I need to let you know that I am discontinuing writing a daily blog as of today. For the last 15 years or so, I have had the privilege of knowing that you are one of those that has regularly checked in to read a daily thought from me. Thank you for allowing me into your schedule with a devotional idea, illustration, and most often a Bible verse. You greatly honored me by your kindness to be a regular reader.
I am entering retirement on Dec. 31, 2019. There are several other projects that I hope to tackle now and writing books on ministry issues as well as Biblical topics is one of my aspirations. Since I will be able to devote more time to concentrated writing regularly, I will need my mind to focus on those challenges daily.
I want to express again my deepest gratitude to First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow, OK for allowing me to be the pastor of that great church for 33 years. They have faithfully sought the LORD and followed Him to some wonderful victories that we have shared together. The church has deeply loved, encouraged, and honored the Garland family always. They have truly overwhelmed us in this most recent season of recognizing and honoring us in my retirement.
My optimism for the days ahead for FBCBA and CBC is exceptionally bright. Our LORD led the church to a very gifted and passionate new pastor, Dr. Matt Brooks. Our church family has already embraced him as their new pastor, and I commend their wisdom and enthusiasm in embracing him. Our Search Team found the man God had already ordained to lead us before we even began the search for my successor.
First Baptist Church and Community Baptist Church overwhelming affirmed that he is God’s man to lead us through the 99% vote of the church to call him. Pastor Matt is a zealous, enthusiastic, effective, and exceptional leader. Our LORD will use him in mighty ways to lead this church to new dimensions of growth and spiritual development. Now, as the people of God follow God’s leadership through God’s man, the future of FBCBA and CBC is as bright as all of the promises of God!
Thank you for praying for the Garland’s as we begin our new journey of retirement. Thank you for taking the time in days past to read my blog. I am truly grateful. I have asked that this specific “blog” be posted each day this week to let folks know that I will “not be writing future blogs”. I do have some folks that only check in periodically. I want them to also be informed that my daily blog will no longer appear.
May the LORD GOD bless you abundantly and may His goodness be poured out upon you continually in all the days to come! May the love of our Heavenly Father, the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, and the abiding presence and power of the Holy Spirit rest upon you always!
Blessings on you all…….Nick Garland
